Polished TV’s ‘Girl Being Extraordinary’: How Eliza Dushku’s THRIVEGulu Is Helping Ugandans Heal

“Our aim is to embrace and highlight the spirit of the Ugandan people who despite all hardship believe in the prosperous future of their country…” – Eliza

It is so easy to take the simple things for granted. But they are by their very fleeting nature some of the most valuable things… With respect to war-torn countries, many have suffered events that go so far beyond depriving them of simple things. Victims of war have lost their fundamental right to be free and live happy and productive lives, often traumatized, sexually abused and enslaved. The non-profit organization THRIVEGulu, founded by Eliza Dushku and her mother professor Judy Dushku, is going above and beyond to address this issue with respect to the citizens of Gulu, Uganda.

Their mission is to “assist the communities of Northern Uganda heal from the traumatic events of war, sexual enslavement, extreme poverty and lost opportunities.” We were so inspired by the organization’s goals and the extraordinary women behind it we sat down and talked with Eliza herself, and here are all the amazing things she had to say. From helping former child soldiers heal, to empowering women, Eliza is truly doing something extraordinary and we are excited to be able to share this with all of you.
