"An advocate and volunteer: Working for kids with epilepsy, cerebral palsy, and refugees through Lutheran Family Services; In my sons’ schools and in the PTSA; As an art teacher at the local juvenile detention center from the upper campus all the way down to maximum security. Currently, on a steering committee to create a Special Education Specific PTSA for the Issaquah School District. Worked at the Epilepsy Information Center at Bowman Gray; as a TOEFL Listening Comprehension Teacher and as a Foreign Language Computer Lab Assistant for University of South Carolina; as a PreK-5 Montessori Teaching Assistant, Intern, and a certified Montessori Teacher. She has a BA in Linguistics from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro; honors thesis was a study on the grammar and its transfer in L2 acquisition of a Hmong refugee group that had settled in Greensboro whose children were attending local schools. She also has an MA in Linguistics from University of South Carolina as well as a TOEFL certificate."
