Meet Anita: US Operations Manager

Anita jokes, “I love making spreadsheets!  There’s something so satisfying about taking massive amounts of paperwork and reworking it into nice, neat columns!”  No doubt, it is hard to imagine someone better suited to serve as THRIVE’s US Operations Manager.  But, all joking aside, Anita avers that her role at THRIVE helps her feel like she is supporting people who are doing amazing things: “What I do here in the US enables the incredible staff in Gulu to do their work of making survivors into THRIVERS!”

A graduate of Smith College and the Boston College Law School, Anita brings outstanding credentials to her work at THRIVE.  Although she has experience in such areas as environmental law, having worked at the US Environmental Protection Agency and the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, Anita made a decision to focus on family and serving her community.  A mother of four girls, she remains actively involved in the Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts and serves as the Superintendent of her church’s Sunday School.  Less formally, she is a semi-professional chauffeur, ushering her girls back and forth to softball practice, games and tournaments!

“I have four girls who have been blessed with the availability of near limitless opportunities here in the United States.  I want these things to be available to others.  This is why I believe so much in the mission of THRIVE, because we help the girls and women of Uganda identify options for their own success and liberation.”  In May 2018, Anita will be making her first trip to Uganda to observe firsthand what it really means to THRIVE!
