We formed this group because we have seen how women who are not educated professionals suffer to support themselves and their families. It is very difficult for us to have hope when there is poverty in our homes and our children have no peace or happiness. The group lets us share and comfort one another when we have problems. We are also taking literacy classes so we can improve our business skills and support our children in school.
Since I have been saving, I was able to start raising pigs for sale, which has made it possible for me to send my daughter to university. I hope that all the group members can follow my path, I want to support other women to also achieve what I have.
THRIVEGulu empowers survivors of violence in post-conflict northern Uganda to reclaim their dignity and heal the invisible wounds of psychological trauma through integrated, holistic services which address mental health, financial self-reliance, and multigenerational literacy.
