Women’s Library and Resource Center

Our Women’s Library & Resource Center has been fully funded and construction has begun in Gulu!!!

On International Women’s Day in 2021, we kicked off fundraising for a bold project for our Trauma Healing & Recovery Center in Gulu, Uganda—a library to serve the local community, particularly the graduates of our THRIVEGulu Literacy Program. Our original goal was to raise $100,000 to build a nice space to house a small reading room, a collection of engaging books, and a computer center to provide digital literacy. Two years later, our vision had grown, and we are creating a “big, beautiful library” that will serve as a centerpiece in our main offices. With a budget of $250,000, we will build the library itself, build a new block of safe & clean washrooms with a biodigester, and kickstart new literacy programming. We will hire a dedicated librarian to work with our Education and Empowerment Program Officer, Vincent, to build a culture of literacy with our neighbors throughout Gulu.

To keep up with the latest developments in construction and program development, join our Facebook group, “Friends of the THRIVEGulu Library.” We can’t wait to see this building open to learners of all ages!!!
