We started the group because we wanted to help members who can not get access to services at the bank to save their money and be able to borrow from one another. This can help our vulnerable members to be ready in case any problems or expenses come along. In order to increase our income, we plan to start making bricks and also raising pigs for sale.
I was abducted by the LRA and stayed in the bush for 3 years. Today, with the support of the group, my friend and I are doing carpentry work. Out of saving, I have also bought 6 goats and a cow. I am supporting one of my children to attend primary school. Soon I plan to buy some land to farm and build on.
THRIVEGulu empowers survivors of violence in post-conflict northern Uganda to reclaim their dignity and heal the invisible wounds of psychological trauma through integrated, holistic services which address mental health, financial self-reliance, and multigenerational literacy.
